Noel Ó Lochlainn

Co-Founder

My own name is Noel Ó Lochlainn, my dream is to reintroduce a single malt whiskey in the same style and flavour as that savoured by the “Burren Prince” and the Brehons centuries ago.

I was born and bred here in the Burren. Having worked with alcohol beverages all my life, I wanted to reignite our tradition for making whiskey in the region.

I have traveled extensively throughout my life and this statement from T Pratchet encapsulates it:

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” – Terry Pratchett

Jack O’Shea

Master Distiller

Jack has worked in the Irish whiskey sector for decades as a distiller and has made, and continues to make, a valuable contribution to the sector and the Irish whiskey community.

Jack’s experience, knowledge and his passion for all things Irish Whiskey helps guide Burren Distillers in our quest to produce a range of ultra premium whiskies.

Karen Connole

Distiller

Karen is a native of Ballyvaughan and lives to this day less than 1km from the distillery. With deep rooted ancestry in the region, Karen is passionate about preserving the precious, unique environment and ensuring the highest quality local ingredients are carefully and mindfully crafted. A qualified distiller, a whiskey connoisseur, and a lover of nature, besides tasting top quality whiskey.
 

Karen is an experienced professional with 12 years expertise gained working in a manufacturing environment, specialising in quality control process, maintaining gold standard health and safety standards. As well as 5 years working in the hospitality and tourism industry in the Burren Co Clare as a co-owner of Burren Fine Wine and Food an award-winning Café.

Luke Conroy

Distillery Team Member

Luke is a valued member of the distillery team at Burren Distillers. As our first employee, Luke has ensured that we implement the right systems and controls, keeps track of all materials movements and has learnt the art of making great whiskey directly from our Master Distiller.

Luke has a passion for the business, for doing things the right way and this approach is ensuring that the whiskies we produce are of the finest quality every time

Eric Daly

Distillery Team Member

Eric’s family are from Ballyvaughan and the distillery is built on his ancestral homelands.

In addition to being an excellent trainee Distiller, Eric brings a great attitude and work ethic, an interest in the art of making whiskey and a wisdom beyond his years.

He understands the vision of Burren Distillers and is keen to be part of the team producing the finest Whiskeys in Ireland
